QWAK,looking for a genertor?
QWAK,Been looking for another generator and came across some US SURPLUSS generators that seem interisting and like most military stuff I expect they are a lot more rugged then civilian stuff usualy is. The prices seem reasonable even cheeper than new civilian ones of similar out put. Perhaps worth checking out???

Re: QWAK,looking for a genertor?
A 4300 watt 4 cylinder, 300# Generator!!
Is that overbuilt or What??!! That sucker may just run forever. It does say the the output exceeds the rating, I believe it. Peace TLM |
Re: QWAK,looking for a genertor?
QWAK,It looked like the two we had on my radar sight back in Nam in 72 and they were almost indestructable how ever the druged out E-4 who was in charge of maintaining them and keeping them ON LINE did manage to do some harm to one when he changed the oil and forgot to put in NEW oil and it ran for several hours with out OIL!
I hate to think of what the GOV. payed when they bought them probably better NOT to know!:hahaha: GOV. surpluss stuff is OVER BUILT to be IDIOT PROOF as much as posable and tends to be clunkey but dependable and I prefer it over fancy and flashey , tempramental and easely damaged. I kind of wish I had spent more time with the generators than up the radar tower and in the control bunker so I would know more about them now. If any one has some hands on experience I would like to hear their opinion. the DUCK |
Re: QWAK,looking for a genertor?
It might be good to ask them if it is 3600 rpm or an 1800rpm generator.
Quieter and longer life if it is 1800rpm, but even if it's 3600 it still should last a long time, much longer than any Commercial one you could find for sale. I don't know how far you live from this place, but I imagine shipping would be fairly expensive for a 300# Generator. Peace TLM |
Re: QWAK,looking for a genertor?
I think the engine is a Wisconsin V4. It has both single phase and 3 phase output.

Re: QWAK,looking for a genertor?
Recently I bought a brand new 7000 watt generator (12000w max) with a Honda motor from BJs for $899.00
I haven't had to use it yet, but I know that Hondas are pretty good and last a long time. |
